OMiLAB4FoF: An environment to design and develop modelling methods for the Factory of the Future

OMiLAB: An environment to design and develop modelling methods for the Factory of the Future (OMiLAB4FoF)

Associated workshop at the “8th IFAC Conference on Manufacturing, Modelling, Management and Control”, organized à Troyes, UTT- University of Technology of Troyes, http://mim2016.utt.fr/workshop.htm

Motivation

Manufacturing is a key enabler for Europe’s grand societal challenges. Sustainable manufacturing, energy efficient production, ICT-enabled intelligent manufacturing and high-performance manufacturing are defined by EU’s initiative on Factories of the Future as key development areas for maintaining EU’s manufacturing sector globally competitive. ICT within manufacturing aims to improve the efficiency, adaptability and sustainability of production systems and their integration with agile business models and processes in an increasingly globalized industry, including continuous change of processes, products and production volumes. (EFRA, FoF, Strategic Roadmap). The OMiLAB4FoF workshop aims to discuss how support and service processes emerging in this new paradigm can be aided by the use of modelling and simulation approaches and tools.
